About Us

Alan Black

Alan has broad managerial experience in both the public and private sector. He originally taught maths in 3 Glasgow secondary schools. He particularly enjoyed his spell as principal teacher of guidance where he had a responsibility for a number of staff and looked after the personal and social welfare of a select group of children.

Alan then joined a UK training company. During his five years there, he managed a training and administration team of around 20 staff, and was responsible for developing and delivering innovative training courses for young people and adults.

Alan is a people person. "Any organisation which views the creation of a positive ethos as a mere paper exercise is not getting the best from it's employees".

Scott Goddard

Scott has managerial experience in both the private and voluntary sector. Scott was originally a Primary School teacher before joining a UK training company where his educational background was put to good use.

Latterly he was promoted to Training Manager in England and was responsible for the recruitment, management and training of new staff as well as developing new training material.

Scott excels in his ability to motivate and to organise. This is evident both in his professional life as a manager, and in his spare time where he is heavily involved as a volunteer for the Scout Association. As Assistant Area Commissioner for Scouts, he has supported over 200 adult leaders in Edinburgh by organising events for young people and training courses for adults. Scott often spends his summer holidays leading young people in residential experiences in the UK and abroad.

Mark Hughes-Jones

Mark has a wide range of experience in both the public and private sector. As a teacher, he managed a Personal, Social and Health Education department before moving into an advisory role in Health for two Local Authorities.

Mark worked for a UK training company for three years where he used his creative talents developing courses and delivering training to pupils and teachers.

When he's not motivating others, Mark spends his time training and racing in Ironman triathlons - a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and marathon, all back-to-back. This takes a lot of determination. "It's made me realise that you have to be relaxed, focus on the positives and have no fear of failure. Organisations that encourage people to do the same will flourish."
