About us
Alan Black

Alan qualified as a secondary school teacher and worked in Scottish schools for 15 years. Alan first taught Maths in three Glasgow schools, before becoming a senior teacher, then Principal Teacher for Guidance.
In these latter roles, Alan was actively involved in a number of initiatives such as industrial awareness, work experience and primary/secondary liaison.
Alan then joined a UK training company. During his five years there, he managed a training and administration team of around 20 staff, and was responsible for developing and delivering innovative training courses for young people and adults.
Having not made it as a rock star (yet!), Alan is keen on playing the guitar and harangues his own children to do likewise. Alan has a great sense of humour, best demonstrated through his ownership of a season ticket with Partick Thistle FC.
Scott Goddard

Scott qualified as a Primary School Teacher and spent a number of years teaching in Edinburgh and the South of England, working with children at all stages of Primary development and gaining valuable knowledge of the curriculum in both Scotland and England.
In 2001, Scott joined a UK training company where he enjoyed presenting to young people in schools and colleges throughout the UK. He was then promoted to Training Manager in England and was responsible for the recruitment, management and training of staff who were delivering training to English secondary schools.
Scott excels in his ability to motivate and to organise. This is evident both in his professional life as a manager, and in his spare time where he is heavily involved as a volunteer for the Scout Association. As Assistant Area Commissioner for Scouts, he has supported over 200 adult leaders in Edinburgh by organising events for young people and training courses for adults. Scott often spends his summer holidays leading young people in residential experiences in the UK and abroad.
Mark Hughes-Jones

Mark taught in a variety of schools for nine years, latterly as head of Personal, Social and Health Education. Mark then moved into an advisory role for Drug Education for York LEA. He has also been a co-ordinator for Active Primary Schools in Fife.
Mark worked for a UK training company for three years where he used his creative talents developing courses and delivering training to pupils and teachers.
Mark is an Ironman triathlete and enjoys spending his time training for, and racing, in Ironman Triathlons - a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and marathon, all back-to-back. His big target is to race at the World Championships - the Hawaii Ironman. "Young people don't have to have big goals set in stone from an early age. What's important is that they can see the opportunities in front of them and that they have the self belief to have a go. I believe that's the true recipe for success."
