Secondary School Staff Testimonials
"One of the many strengths of the Live-N-Learn programme is that their work is based on research, it's not about building self esteem, it's about building self efficacy, which is a very different issue. Whilst making young people feel positive about themselves, the Live-N-Learn team also send out the strong practical message that hard work and effort are required to achieve success."
Jim Cassidy, Headteacher, Gracemount High School
"Thanks again for the excellent presentation... a most enjoyable and entertaining day which totally met the needs of all students... extremely positive with students remarking on how informative and useful the day was for their own personal development. This is the 3rd year we have worked with Live-N-Learn and hope to continue this involvement in the future. Once again, thank you for organising and delivering this most excellent, innovative and inspiring training day"
John D Smith, Deputy Head, Girvan Academy
Each year we arrange for outside trainers to provide training for our upper school. Sometimes the quality is very good, and sometimes the quality is variable. To ensure value for money, we have investigated a number of providers and this year opted for Live-N-Learn. The presentations were excellent and we will have no hesitation in using the same company next year.
Barry Graham, Moffat Academy
Live N Learn use humour, music and creative games to bring learning alive. The students gave very positive feedback about their day and it really made them think seriously about their future
Alexa Brain, Trinity Academy
I found the Live-N-Learn team to be extremely responsive to our needs. They took the time to find out about our pupils, our context and our aims for the day. At all times they communicated effectively with the school, staff and pupils, adapting to their audiences smoothly and appropriately. The day was fun, but fact-packed, the pupils engaged with the learning experience and still use, and talk about, the skills and strategies they were taught on that day.
Susan Cain , Deputy Head, Bishopsgarth School, Stockton
A Leadership skills seminar was delivered to our prefects team. The event was well organised, thought provoking and inspiring, delivered with true panache. Not only were the materials pertinent and appropriate to the audience, the enjoyment factor was second to none. We look forward to working with Live-N-Learn again.
Sue Cowan , Depute Head, Queen Anne High School, Fife
As we know teenagers downplay everything - 'rubbish' means 'not good' and 'ok' in teenspeak means 'Good'!! So when our 4th years described their Live-n-Learn workshop as 'fantastic', 'magic', 'really useful' then we sat up and took notice. This is a workshop which is highly relevant, fun and engages young people fully. We particularly liked the clever use of ICT and all great value for money. We'll have this back.
Linda Kirkwood, Rector, Oban High School
We look forward to working with the Live-N-Learn again. Their workshop supported our pupils at a crucial stage in their exam preparation. The presentation was energetic, relevant and pertinent as well as being good fun. I know that our young people are using the strategies given to support their learning.
Bernadette O'Shea, Depute Head, All Saints Secondary
Well prepared and organised, entertaining yet pertinent. In 3 days Live-n-Learn produced and delivered a Prefects' Seminar which was exactly tailored to our requirements. Our students had a great time as well as a highly useful learning experience.
Helen Morrison, Depute Head, Springburn Academy
A study skills seminar was delivered to all our fourth year pupils. The feedback from pupils was very positive. They were all fully engaged during the workshop and the creative use of ICT kept them focussed.
Roger Boyle, Depute Head, Cleveden Secondary
The S2 Momentum presentation was very varied. Great use of IT and visuals. Pupils were engaged throughout and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The themes fitted in very well with our options programme for S2 and was an excellent example of active learning.
John Campbell, Depute head, Abronhill High
All our first and second year pupils really enjoyed the 'momentum' experience. 'Momentum' got the serious message of trying, doing their best and working with others across in a fun way.
Ruth Blakey, Depute, Bishopbriggs Academy
S3 Momentum produced a fantastic response from our S3 students. It really made them think about themselves as individuals as well as part of the future adult community'
